I find the HIFIMAN Svanar Wireless genuinely impressive when it comes to sound quality. Its R2R DAC architecture delivers a rich, dynamic and spacious presentation with natural timbre, powerful and controlled bass, excellent detail and a remarkably wide soundstage. When everything works as intended, this is one of the few true-wireless IEMs I have heard that comes close to the experience of a serious wired audiophile setup.
Unfortunately, my experience is significantly compromised by three fundamental issues. The first is the LDAC connection. At the highest 990 kbps setting, I experience frequent stutters and dropouts, particularly when moving around. Even putting my DAP in a trouser or jacket pocket can be enough to cause interruptions. Using an adaptive setting improves stability, but for me this somewhat defeats the purpose of a high-end wireless IEM designed around high-resolution audio.
The second issue is the weight. The earpieces are simply too heavy and bulky for what I consider a genuinely mobile IEM. I notice their weight during longer sessions and particularly when walking or moving around. Combined with the unreliable connection, this makes them much better suited to stationary listening.
Finally, I am disappointed by the build quality. For a product at this price level, the Svanar Wireless simply feels too cheap in my hands. This is particularly disappointing considering that HIFIMAN dropped the carbon-fibre shell used on the first Svanar Wireless. The materials and overall finish don't convey the premium quality I would expect from a flagship product.
That leaves me with a frustrating contradiction: I absolutely enjoy the sound, but a wireless flagship also needs to feel premium, be comfortable and work reliably on the move. For me, the Svanar Wireless falls short in all three areas despite its exceptional musical performance.
The sound quality of the high fidelity mode is quite expectional, but the noise cancelling feature is so disappointing.
Amazing!
When i switch from the sennheiser HDB630 to the svanar wireless at first you think they sound a little weird but after just a minute or 2 they sound amaaaaazing!
